President of Television and Licensing, Forbes
Miguel R. Forbes is Forbes President of Television and Licensing. He was appointed to his present position in June 2008. In this role, he supervises the strategic creation and development of new business opportunities for the company through partnerships and acquisitions. These include Forbes- branded television projects and international licensees for the company’s worldwide local-language editions.
Mr. Forbes was instrumental in developing the partnership between Forbes and Fox cable television, which resulted in the launch of ““Forbes on Fox”” in May 2001. The program was immediately embraced by viewers and critics and remains the top business magazine show. Mr. Forbes has also Recent television ventures with the Travel Channel, A&E, Ovation and Fine Living Channel. Mr. Forbes has initiated include a number of Forbes specials produced for E! Entertainment Television that aired in 2007, which ultimately attracted 47 million viewers.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Forbes was Forbes Vice President of Business Development since 2000, during which time he oversaw the launch of a number of Forbes foreign editions currently in circulation. These are: Forbes Korea, Forbes Russia, Forbes China, Forbes Arabia, Forbes Israel, Forbes Poland, Forbes Turkey, Forbes Romania, Forbes Croatia. New launches will include Forbes Ukraine, Forbes Africa and Forbes Latvia.
More recently Miguel completed a deal to re-brand the Mobil Travel Guide into the Forbes Travel Guide. This is a partnership with the Five Star Corp which has been in business for over 50 years and ranks hotels, restaurants and spas. Before taking over the new business unit, Mr. Forbes founded Forbes Index, Inc. in 1998, serving as General Manager. He joined Forbes in 1996 as a sales representative and first official full time employee of Forbes.com. Prior to joining the company, he participated in Prudential Securities’ two- year training program from 1993 to 1995 and served as Field Director on the 1996 “Forbes For President” campaign for the Republican nomination.
Mr. Forbes graduated from St. David’s in New York City and Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts. He has a B.A. in English and an M.S. in Publishing from New York University. Mr. Forbes belongs to the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), where he serves as Chairman of the new members committee. He is a member of the Young Global Leaders, and serves on the board as Vice Chairman of the Forbes Family Trust. His charitable associations include the Christian Children's Fund. He is also active in several other non-profit groups.
